Be Sure that you are the one collecting your vehicle after a service or repairs and not a thief. We have been informed that there is a new syndicate stealing vehicles from Panel Beaters and Dealerships.
How do they do it?
The thieves pose as the Insured or Owner of the vehicle. They pay the excess or the cost of the service and then drive off with your car. A rather inexpensive way of “buying” a car!
How can you protect yourself?
If you are taking your vehicle in for repairs or a service please insist that the Panel Beater or Dealership only releases the vehicle to you. Insist that they keep a copy of your identity document on file and only return your vehicle to you after verifying your identity.
